The Swamp Tiger has been really good to me, but she is beginning to show her 1994 age and the last time I had her in for service, the dudes told me there was some major work coming up. So I had to make a decision. Keep putting moolah into her and renting when I needed to take a major trip...or begin to look for something else. So, Friday before last, I stopped into Valley Ford "just to see what they had".

There was a sweet little black Ranger. Dave booked a test drive for Monday. I went, tried an Escape. More truck than I need. Tried the Ranger. Loved all the options. Dave thought I should try a brand new one as there was 0% financing. Tried a new one. With no options (not even a bed liner). After a lot of soul searching, some tire advice from Troy, a look-over by Ron and some wrangling, I decided to just do it. I picked her up yesterday. Mama Mia!

Check it out! Is she not be-you-ti-ful??? 4 L v6, Tilt, a/c, cruise, running boards, a cup holder, CD player, trailer hitch, back window, power windows, split bench seats, arm rest with cool place to put stuff, supercab with doors that open suicide style, 2 jump seats with seat belts, fog lights, bed liner...sa-weet!

Of course, these two were surprised I wanted a picture, but they obliged. Chris (on the left) is the finance guy and Dave is the salesman. They were really good to me and treated me like I deserved (except that Chris called me "mam" on more than one occasion yesterday and I told him to stop but he said that is what they tell him in all his courses and I said too bad; quit it and he laughed). They took care of everything, including the registration. They gave me $1500 for the ST and I put 1000$ down. We split on the cost of 4 new tires and it is inspected until next July (hahaha-last laugh for me-apparently it needed brake work to pass!).

A really hot day here, so after my tennis lesson (we worked on overhand serving) the Hound and I went over to the shore to cool off. I couldn't resist taking the above photo of the new addition.

Very foggy over there...me and my little Demon Dog took a walk and then stopped in on Kim and Shane on the way home. Poor Shane has just sold his and was a little sad when he saw mine (he thought it was brand new...good suggestion about asking for those touch-ups, Ron!).
So. It is done. And now I have a car payment like the rest of the free world. Eww. But I also have a reliable vehicle that I can take anywhere.
During the course of the ST I:
- Began working for the Federal government
- Found (and lost) the love of my life
- Bought a house
- Have been to Bermuda (2x), 14 states (including Alaska), Ottawa (3x), Calgary, Guelph and London
- found a Beagle to share my life
- Made lots of friends
Like I said, the ST has been good to me. She was my first vehicle and represented a freedom like I had never known, So, it makes me wonder...what will I experience during the lifetime of this vehicle? So goodbye, Swamp Tiger...thanks for the memories. Hello, new truck...what's next?

Hey! Congrats on the new vehicle. It is "SA-Weet", as you put it. It should give you peace of mind when you want to hit the road at a moment's notice! Enjoy the ride!
Great new ride!!!!
Just one question....got your little recipe clipping yesterday.... Am I suppose to make that for Monday? Cause that probably won't happen.
Oh Taryn, Only you could write a teary tribute to something with 4 wheels. I have had to listen to my kids relate or allude to their 'growing up' vehicles stories particularly in a certain van! but never in my life did I think to measure it by the length of time I have owned a vehicle. No MAM in that SA-Weet vehicle just one HOT MAMA!
WOW!
Good for you Kiddo! (no mams here). Enjoy the new journey!! New adventures, new paths and an open road ahead!
