We Played Hooky

So there I am at work yesterday morning, doing my thing, and the sun is just beating into my office. I look at the sky, see that it is that perfect colour blue sans clouds, and think, "Self, today is a good day to use up some accumulated vacation!" I had worked hard all week and wanted to take advantage of the day since we all know whenever you actually plan to do something the weather usually sucks. I went to my supervisor and asked how he would feel about me playing hooky for the afternoon and he said go for it. So, I did.

Imagine Macy's surprise when she didn't have to go back in her crate after I finished my Grape Goober sandwich. I slapped on ye olde sunscreen, put on my fabulous new swimsuit (the top part is just so darn cute), pulled on my Daisy Dukes (well, denim shorts that are about as close to DDs as I will ever get, but it sounds better) and off we went in the babeliciousmobile.

Our first stop was Kingsport Beach where we promptly went to the canteen and ordered two baby cones. Mocha somethingorother for me; vanilla for the pup. As you can see, the Hound enjoyed hers! Going...
Going...
Quite gone!

The first photo was taken after we finished our creams and went onto the beach. Which was HOT as you can see by the tongue that outlasts the boundaries of the photo. And the tide was in and I couldn't believe there were people flailing about in such icky water. I mean, there were bits of toilet paper and lots of dead baby crabs floating in it! Apparently, pooches are not welcome at Alyesford Lake. We headed to Lumsdems Dam instead.

I forgot what a little gem that park is. Yes, the water is dark. But the "beach" is grass and there are lots of shady trees so it is a perfect place to go for us. After much coaxing and some physical reorientation, Macy was in up to her elbows. That was as good as it was going to get. It was soooo nice to just be in the sun with a magazine with the white noise of summer: kids arsing around, breeze in the trees and a few powerboats.

Hooky Good.

What fun!
I used to pack up Midnight, some treats, a book and a lawnchair and head to Port George. It was so nice to just "be". Glad you played hooky, and I am certain that Macy is too.
