Hauntings

All Hallows Eve is done for another year. A quiet one in terms of number of spooks at the door, but after they were in bed the real fun began.

I have not idea what came over me on Thursday night, but I decided to pull out a few decorations and festoon the front door. I found Grammie's ceramic pumpkin which I had totally forgot I had and it made me feel a little less guilty about not carving a pumpkin this year. And I found my witch's hat. So last night, I spent the evening in the living room waiting for the kiddies to show up. After wrangling an excited dog and two bowls of treats (one with candy, one with chips), I decided there had to be a better way. I used Macy's fancy lead (the one I can snap around my waist which was very handy at the Market this summer) and put the crap into one bowl and it worked like a charm. I kept the lead around my waist and when the doorbell rang, I would just snap her on the end. By then end of the evening, she got the gist of things and actually waited for me to snap on the lead before going to the door. There were not too many trick or treaters.

Then there were some big tricks out in the yard. Craig and Tim and Jeff and Deb came over to sit around ye olde Charm stove. It was too much fun (Obviously. The cranky neighbour behind my place came out on his deck 3x...would turn his outside light on, come out, stand there for a second or two and then go back in and turn the light off). Lots of laughs and bantering. And singing of campfire songs (Craig pointed out it was actually Quarter Master's Store....not Cornermasters Store. Geesh. Who knew?). Oh, but this group is effortless to entertain. We roast weenies, popped some Jiffy Pop and depleted the beer supply. They shuffled off around 2am.

Then it was officially this start of my least favourite month of the year. Hello, November...let's see if we can't shake things up a bit this year and actually like each other.

1:40 pm...PS-Macy and I just got back from a Big Walk at the Station...we saw a fox and two deer :)

Not that it compares but I'm not liking November this year. It feels like one of those people that you just can't shake and keeps coming to bug you. Hmm, here's hoping November over soon. (I know it's only the first week). Sheesh:S
