We Had Ourselves a Merry Little Christmas

When you last tuned in, dear reader, there was a flurry of activity to report. There is more this time!

Monday night we were invited to Pete and Sandi's for drinks and enjoyed the time with fellow Blockers. It was a delightful evening.

This is a pic of me and my dad at the Pub on Tuesday night. Jean thoughtfully gave each attendee a Christmas Cracker...hence the paper hats. A rather disappointing meal and we didn't get our reserved table in front of the fireplace, but the company was great! Afterward, we dropped in on the O'Brien's across the street for a nightcap. Jerry and Dad got along like a house fire at Solstice so there was more conversation that evening.

Wednesday. What happened Wednesday???? Oh yes, it was C'Mas Eve. I went to work in the morning and then took Dad out for lunch at Pizzazz Bistro in Kentville (the new extension of Serage bakery). if you have not gone there yet, do not hesitate to go! A little pricey for lunch, but a really really really nice meal in a wonderful atmosphere and great service to boot. I had a big nap in the afternoon, wrapped a few last minute things and took the hound for a walk. Troy surprised us with a visit before I went to Evelyne's to deliver some pressies. After that, we went to Julie and Cate's for their C'Mas Eve open house where I had my first authentic Irish Coffee and I got to see some people that I knew but that I didn't know had a connection to J & C and met some new people, too. A brass band outside serenaded that side of the Block at one point which was really nice.

Christmas morning the four-leggeds and I opened stockings (The Maillet Santas filled one for me!) and then Dad helped me to get ready for breakfast guests. Sonia and Gerry had travel plans cancelled due to the crappy weather earlier in the week so I invited them to come share our pancakes and sausage. A orange-juice toast at the table to celebrate. Then Dad and I were off to the soup kitchen where we joined in to keep bread baskets filled, put slices of pie on serving plates and handed out care packages of bread and fruit for the guests to take home. Again, as last year, a worthwhile service to give. After a delicious nap and a dog walk, we popped in on Beth and Derren for a glass of wine and then made our way to the Maillet's for a C'Mas dinner of BBQ'd steak :) So so yummy. We went to the movies to finish of the day (The Day the Earth Stood Still).

Wait...there's more...

Boxing Day was spent in Middleton with the Stevenson's where we shared a wonderful brunch and great conversation with Marilyn, Ron and Troy. The power went off for some unknown reason but Ron fired up the generator. Rapure, turkey, dressing, cranberries, salad, coleslaw, bread....and TWO kinds of pie for dessert! Santa found me there, too :) We had to leave earlier than I wanted to and Dad didn't get to ask many of his Emu questions, but we had to pick up Macy and then drive Dad to the airport. Great driving weather. The hound and I got back safe and I spent the evening puttering and compiling and extensive Thank Yous to Write List.

Because I certainly was blessed this Christmas.

Boy, that fellow looks older and older, but still on the handsome side. (smile) Let me extend my thanks to all those I met this last week. It was a flurry of parties and many names to register in the old brain. I greatly enjoyed meeting Taryn's friends and attending so many parties. It pleases Dad's heart to know that my daughter has so many caring and supportive friends. Wishing each and everyone a Happy and Contented 2009. And may God's grace be with each and every one. DAD!

Hey Taryn,

Just the way a Christmas should be...spending time with friends, helping with community service and spending time with your Dad. By reading his comment it sounds like he enjoyed Christmas with you as well. I am awaiting the 'WORD' post tomorrow. What can it be?

Happy, Happy, New Year!
Love
