Hims was a Very Good Boy

A sad evening here last night. I lost a dear friend who has been with me through some difficult times.

My kitty Zeut has had thyroid issues since before Christmas which eventually morphed into liver disease for which there is no cure. This diagnosis was presented on Valentine's Day. I decided to not put him through anymore vet visits and to just make him comfortable and give him lots of love and treats and yummy canned food. I felt I would know when the time was right to make the Final Visit.

That time came yesterday when I came home for lunch. He was not doing well. I was prepared to take him to the clinic today. However, when I came home from work, he was worse and I felt it was time to just hold him. He died in my arms a few hours later.

It was better this way. I didn't relish the idea of taking him to the clinic and stressing him out more. Macy was a trooper...she didn't even get her walk until around 7pm and she just curled up on the loveseat while Zeut and I were stretched out on the sofa. It was a sad time, but a fitting end for such a loyal friend.

He was well loved.

... that you were the best human staff a cat could have. That he felt loved and was exceptionnally well cared for. That he didn't hold those visits to the vet against you. And that while it was a shock at first, he came to enjoy that little source of entertainment (or heat) that you call Macy. And that he knows that it is very hard for you right now, but he made sure to leave you with enough happy memories that over time they'll take over the sad ones. And yes, that he loved you too. But don't tell anyone... he has a cat's reputation to preserve and cannot get all mushy...

Oh, Taryn. I am so sorry to hear about your Zeut. A peaceful finish though to what I am sure was a great life. Tears in my eyes for you...Hopefully he is sitting on a big dining room table in a sunbeam somewhere ...

Taryn,
I am having a good cry for you. Losing a pet is so difficult.
Zeut was so lucky to have you be his "person".
Hugs,
Jill

Taryn,
So sorry about Zeut, with you to have loved him, he was a very lucky cat. It is amazing how much those four legged furry's really become a trusted friend. We could learn a lot from them....listen without saying anything....love unconditionally, ....and stretch out in the sun wherever you fell like it.

Taryn,
I can't say anything through my tears but "I'm glad that you both shared love."
