One Month Ago Today...

...I was getting ready to go to work after a wonderful vacation. Which means this is my last post about Mexico.

Saturday morning was another up and at 'em early day as Troy and I had a ticket to go snorkeling. I was VERY excited because I have wanted to do this for a very long time! A van picked us up at the resort and drove us to Puerto Morelos.

We got dropped off at a local what I am going to call bar (cantina?) with a wrestling theme. I know, I know. What a hoot. Wrestling is VERY big in Mexico and it is more Atlantic Grand Prix than WWF. Pics of stars all over the walls, wrestling masks, and a mock ring set up overhead. The thing was, it had a dock and a thatched roof and access to the beach. This is where got outfitted with gear and boarded a little boat.

And we were off to visit the MesoAmerican Barrier Reef .
In a word: AMAZING. The guide was excellent. I saw a school of 7 barracuda, held a sting ray, wondered at the fishes and pretended I was the Little Mermaid. So, so worth the price of admission. Unfortunately, I have no pics to post as they are still on the underwater camera I purchased. Afterward, we had lunch at the cantina (which was included in the tour but we didn't know this until we got there!) and then it was back to the Princess.

Where we got one last hour on the beach. We watched a storm come in, got a little wet before we dashed to a hut and then enjoyed the sunshine again! Weird. We met the crew for dinner at the Mexican themed restaurant and then that was that. These photos are of my favourite statues that lined the entire walkway from the main building and I took them as we walked to our room one last time.

Sunday morning it was goodbyes and hugs all around as we boarded the bus to go to the airport and we were all a little sad the adventure had come to an end. An uneventful trip back home safe and sound. All in all, it was the BEST vacation I had ever been on and I don't regret one single moment or one single penny. I have already earmarked my Canada Savings Bond for a southern destination next year.

We now resume our regular programming.

Thank for sharing so much of your wonderful trip. I hope you get that camera developped so we can see the fishies. I've always wondered what it would be like to snorkel in those kinds of waters. Cool!

Once you experience that sun and sand with the people you love-you're a goner!!!!!!!!!!
It pulls you back every year that you can possibly go!
So glad that you had your special time.

Hey Taryn,
I am a little sad that your vacation AND posts about Mexico are over. Will you be scrapbooking this trip? Another great way to relive and preserve fond memories.
Oh and the mention of wrestling brought back some 'fond' memories of my Gram Illsley, who woudn't miss a Saturday night Wrestling match. I remember her get all worked up and yelling cuss words (well maybe not cuss but strong words for a Grammie) at the Television screen. We had as much fun watching Gram as she did watching wrestling. Thanks for triggering THAT memory. LOL!
