Fashionable People

This weekend, I chatted with two really interesting people, saw a friend at a wedding and met a sweet little boy.

Friday evening as I was walking the dog, I happened upon a very interesting scene. Coming towards me on the green bridge in Kentville was a shopping cart (one of those high ones) pushed by a dude I see quite regularly on our walks. You have probably seen him around town, too. Old guy, glasses, always dressed two warm for the weather with his hat with ear flaps, pushing a cart with recyclables in it. That night, no bottles. 5 cats. Really! There were 3 cats in a wire kennel in the cart and two more in a cat carrier bungee-strapped to the top of the kennel! We had the most amazing chat! He told me about the cat that was not along for the ride and likened him to the character Papageno in the Magic Flute. Turns out, he was on his way home from the vet IN NEW MINAS. The guy doesn't have much, but he makes sure his seven cats get to the VET. Gotta admire that.

And then yesterday Macy and I took a drive out to Grand Pre to get a wedding present and stopped at that little antique shop (if you like cool little shops you can hardly move around in, go) on your left before you get to the winery. I ended up chatting with the owner Joceline for an hour...she is a simultaneous translator for the federal government. We had great conversation once she got over the shock of what I am planning to do with something I purchased there (Can't tell-secret-will share after the next book club meeting IF IT WORKS).

And then I attended the wedding of my neighbour Troy and his lovely bride Denise and met up with my gal pal Denise (that is her in the pic) and her man Doug and got caught up. Denise is one of those people who you keep coming across in the town you live in and you feel like a million bucks after talking with her because she is so genuinely interested in you. And she is really down to earth. I had a great chat with her man Doug.....

And I met this sweet little man! Cameron is 6 weeks old today! We got along like the blazes.

People are the spice of life. What a gift to have some great encounters to remind me of this!

Wow! Troy got married - send along my best wishes! Ferry has been booked for July 5th, a few days in Clare and then to the Valley - can't wait to see you!

I love that...people are the 'spice of life' and if that is so than you are 'cinnamon'...one of my favorite spices.

Funny how we see people everyday without even a second thought. The stories and history (spices!:) they have is what makes all of life's recipes so good.

Bon appétit!
