A candy apple red Specialized Myka. It absolutely astounds me that having the right gear can make all the difference in enjoyment of this sport! Yes, the new shorts and jersey match...not intentionally! They just happened to be the ones on sale. But as Sue says, looking the part never hurts either! This bike fits me: easy mount and dismount, smaller hand grips and the handlebars are positioned closer.
I purchased it from Valley Stove and Cycle on Saturday morning after having given it a test run Friday afternoon. Colin was an amazing person to deal with: very knowledgeable and helpful. I like keeping my money in the Valley, but appreciate good service too. And they give it in spades.
So yesterday was the BIG test. A beginners group ride at the Woodville trails. This little gem is a series of hiking trails and bike trails up on the North Mountain complete with signage. When I find a link to it, I'll post it. There are also some other pics which were taken but I don't have them yet. There is one of me smack on my ass in a big mud puddle on the Mud Trail. As you can see from the pics, my Myka and I were fully initiated into this new hobby :)

You always did have an affinity for mud puddles!! Love your expansive spirit...mom
So much fun, Taryn. I dragged my bike out of storage this spring. I have only been on the roads though. What you're doing looks like so much more FUN!

Ditto! Looks like fun...I always LOVED riding my bike but falling on my A** does not appeal to me...I think I'll stick to the Roads! TFS!
Been trying to get Nicholas to bike since last year. Has worked a couple of times. Hopefully he will see the benefit of it and we can ride off in the sunset (and mud...hey maybe that's what's been missin...). I'll let you know how that works ;)
