Roll With It

My Peeps Amy and Myleta told me about a groovy site named Skrap n' Chat (I know, I know...the name is weird). It is a forum based site where paper weenies like me can create and share and generally have a fan club base. There are challenges posted all the time and Kirsten's Weeklong Challenge seemed to be an interesting concept so I decided to play.

It worked like this: Kirsten posted a separate direction each day to be done separately and the goal was to have a completed layout (LO) by the end of the week.

Day 1: pick a picture taken outdoors. I chose this one of Ollie and Macy taken at Scot's Bay earlier this summer. How cute is this?!

Day 2: pick a sheet of cardstock for the base, and cut paper to these specifications: three rectangles (two any size, one 1" x 4"), one circle, two squares (any size). I chose to work with a patterned paper from Basic Grey's Phoebe line Ria had given me in a kit. The cardstock is Razzledazzle Berry from this season's In Colour lineup from Stampin' Up.

Day 3: Collect the embellishments. An alphabet (I was not sure which one I would choose so I choose two and would decide later), something sparkly, something to make dots with, three types of ribbon one of which would be folded, 5 buttons and one other embellishment of one's choice. I chose to go sparkly and do dots at the same time with some diamond Stickles so the rhinestones were out (I mean, come on. Have you ever seen rhinestones at Scot's Bay?

Day 4: Glue 'er down. The paper all had to touch at least one other piece. This is the resulting LO.

The obvious title would have included something like Beach Bums but that was a little too corney for me. I already had the idea at this point that I wanted to include the other side to make a double page LO and that it had to be a great photo I had of Emily taken the same day.
The title "The Girls of Summer" had taken root.

Long story short, the LO of Ollie and the Hound could have stood on its own and was submitted. Then I did the other side in like, 20 minutes.

I was quite pleased with the result. I was not sure how it would turn out given the new type of challenge, but it worked. That is what happens when you let go and just roll with it :)

well...the best part of these challenges is you actually get something done! Love that you did that :o)

I am truly biased toward the subject of your pages! And they are quite proud of it, as you can imagine!
Now, my challenge will be to see what I can come up with for the same pictures...!
