Summer is Toot'ling Along...

Finally getting to enjoy the things that summer is made of: cookouts and quality time outdoors!

Last Saturday evening I was invited to join the Maillet family for a weenie roast on the beach at Scot's Bay. I have to say it was a perfect evening. I just had this feeling of, "ahhh! This is the life" as I was laying there on the stony beach observing what was happening around me. I just love this bum shot of Ollie and Macy! Check out Evelyne's blog for more pics.

And then Monday, it was off to Milford House where Macy and I had a cabin booked for a few days. I love Milford House! Camping for grownups. And we met Jane and Isabelle and Maggie there and got to spend some real quality time with them. Which was awesome. Jane whipped my butt at Quiddler and she makes a mean rum and coke :) Isabelle and I had great conversations and read books. Macy was on guard for squirrels and Maggie ran around like she was a puppy again. We went swimming and ate too much food and squeezed everything we could out of our time there. We met up with a nice guy on the croquet field who is a Science writer for the NEW YORK TIMES. Yes, I was impressed, OK?

It was back to work on Thursday, but the fun did not end...Saturday morning I went on an awesome group ride at the Links in Woodville and I have the bruises to prove it! But hey-no mudpuddle bathing this time and I went over all three bridges we came across. And I felt a little more in control of my bike. Anyone who is interested: this is a shared use trail which means it is great for hiking, too. Macy and I went last Sunday.

And the finale for the week was attending a performance of Rockbound at Ross Creek. It was fantastic. We read this book in our bookclub (this is a bookclub with a book, actually...not my regular creative Book Club without a book....) and I do have to mention that it would have been hard to be into the play if I had not read the book.
Oh, but it was a wonderful week...I wonder what adventures THIS week will bring?

T, it looks like you are really enjoying your summer! What fun, I'm working on a little enjoyment myself. What is summer without some adventure!
