Septemberrrrrrrrrrr

The Equinox happens this coming week. I'm not liking the fact that the furnace kicked in this week and I'm not liking the fact that it is dark now when the alarm goes off.

But I AM liking a couple of things in September!

We had our annual Peep Retreat last weekend and it was (as usual) wonderful. We were holed up at Paulette's cottage up on the Bay of Fundy and we chatted, talked (some heavy topics), ate, created and just enjoyed our uninterrupted time together. What a blessing this group of gals has been to me. No pic...would you believe I didn't take on GD picture?

And the other thing I am liking about September is that I am taking an on-line class from my friend Kal Barteski. She lives in Winnipeg. She is the artist who designed out wedding invitations and thank you cards and we had the opportunity to meet her in person when we drove across Canada last year. The subject is creativity and having a bulletproof positive attitude about whatever you need it to be. The assignments are thought provoking and are stirring the creativity within me. One significant thing is that if you look up the word creativity in the dictionary, it has nothing to do with the Arts! It is a way of thinking. This truly resonated with me because sometimes even tho people say I am creative I've really not thought I was because I didn't see it on paper. I had associated it with Art. A lot of the paper stuff I do is "lifted" from someone else's idea. But as it turns out, creativity can be thinking in new and different ways and applying it to things you do whatever it may be. Even work. The way I described it in the first assignment was: Creativity is Exponential Thought.

And then the Bulletproof element. See that picture up there? It is my new mantra. And again, I can't take credit for it. The "shake well and smile often" is lifted from the container of Silk coffee beverage that is in my fridge...it was staring me in the face one morning and I was inspired. You see, Macy shakes stuff off and gets back to the important things like naps and begging for treats. I can take a clue from this: when something creepy is happening, deal with it and shake it off. Try not to let it colour the rest of the day. When my pesky co-worker is pushing my buttons, shake it off. And smile often? Well, it has been said it is my best physical feature so I might as well play it up, right? Even tho I didn't create the phrase, I'm using it creatively. I'm using it in a way that was not intended. So I am beginning to think that I may just be creative after all!

Happy Fall, Ya'll....time to put the wood in and haul out the extra blankets.

Only you had doubts about your creativity! Very inspiring post... particularly at the end of a week-end with my mother-in-law... man, I feel a whole lot of shaking coming...!

You have creativity oozing out of you girl! ...always have. I love the new way of looking at it though. (I'll have to look into my fridge and see if I can't get shakin).

Shake off September and bring on Octobrrrr too!
