Shore Tour x2

Well. What a whirlwind week it has been!

A couple of weeks ago, my friend Paul (husband of Jane who moved to South Carolina...this was a pic sent to me at C'Mas time of he and Isabelle) emailed to announce he was going to be in the Valley for work and was wondering if we could get together. We sure did! He took me out for dinner on Wednesday (Pizzaz Bistro) and we had a wonderful meal. Jane called while we were there and Paul was itching to whisper to the waitress "she's talking to my wife". Friday night he joined us for movie night and surprised the heck out of Pete and Sandi. And on Saturday, we headed to the French Shore to visit his parents.

What a weekend! Macy quite liked the back seat of the Chrysler 300 Paul had rented and she managed to weedle her way into the hearts of Diane and Bernard because by that evening she had decided she should be able to sit on the couch as opposed to the floor in front of the fire! We made a few Frenchy stops along the way to Saulnierville and made it to his parents' by noon. And then we had clam rappie pie for lunch! A trip to the lobster pound in the afternoon was quite an education in the world of des homards (there is a great pic to share, but Paul has not sent it along yet.....) and we found a few more Frenchys to scour, too (I found a dress fit for a Senorita...yes, that's a clue). We went all the way to Mavillette beach and back again and Macy was romancing Bernard in the front seat. A wee bit of a birthday celebration with chocolate swirl cakes for Paul and I (his birthday is in April, too) was on the docket as well. He also took me on a tour of the backroads of Clare and showed me all the kayaking hotspots. Saturday night we had a feed of lobster where I got a refresher in "fixing" lobster (I dare say I could now give my mom a run for her money in that task!) from Bernard and another piece of Diane's amazing coconut cream pie! Sunday morning we had lobster in our scrambled eggs, relaxed with coffee and chit chat and then I was given a tour of the Saulnierville Catholic church (beautiful-the incense was still hanging in the air). On our way out of Clare, we stopped at Chez Christophe (if you get a chance, GO THERE) for lunch. A delivery of lobster to Sandi and Pete generated an invitation to join them for lobster Sunday night (are you counting? I had seafood for Saturday lunch, dinner, Sunday breakfast, lunch and dinner!). After that wonderful meal, Macy and I made it to our last dog class and graduated complete with a certificate from Family Pet Class.

No rest for the wicked, because Monday morning I was off to Shelburne for Shore Tour #2. I had three rendering facility inspections to do and my supervisor and I decided a tour of Port Saxon, Yarmouth and finally Saulnierville in three days would be the most efficient way. Shelburne was, well, dead Monday night. Yarmouth was a little more exciting as I found a place to celebrate St.Paddy's Day with me, myself and I with a local brew and a burger. Saulnierville was a pleasant way to end the tour as I visited Diane and Bernard before I went home. I had my first swirl cone of the season en route (all the roadside takeouts are open down there!).

After I dropped the car off at the office, I went to pick up Macy at Patch of Heaven Pet Resort
and I have never seen the likes of that reunion :) Chantelle is the proprietor and she sure knows her stuff! We had been to her Bark Park and decided to check out the Luxury Pet Boarding side of things. Money well spent! For example, they had a 3 hour woods walk that afternoon! Macy is still sleeping it off. And there was even a little report card letter in her food container to enjoy.

All in all, the Shore Tours were great and they reminded me how much I like that end of the province. How lucky am I?

PS-I bought a bikini last week (another hint).
